The Data Protection Act 1998
The Data Protection Act 1998 gives patients the right to access their clinical records or any other personal information held about them.
All information held about patients is completely confidential. The Practice is registered under the Data Protection Act 1984 and this also protects data that is held on computers.

Information about your health and care helps the NHS to improve your individual care, speed up diagnosis, plan your local services and research new treatment. In May 2018 the strict rules about how this data can and cannot be used were strengthened. You can now choose whether confidential patient information is used for research and planning.
